What to do if your house is totally non-compliant to Vastu?

Posted by: arcneha on: January 12, 2011

This question has become a common query in the era of multi-storeyed apartment system where every apartment on a floor has a different direction. In such a fast moving world, where everybody in the family is out for work, thinking about the lonely house is a rare case. But eventually, we realize the essence of our house once its energy start disturbing our well laid out lives.

A house, apartment or room is not a non-living thing. It’s a living creature either full or deprived of energy. We always give importance to our energy but rarely notice the energy of the area we are living in. We even forget to establish a relation between the two.

Sometimes, we realize that a particular house is unlucky for us. There are a series of problems (health, finance, relationships etc) with no solution. Once we realize that it’s the house that is the cause of problems, we consult a Vastu expert for solutions. Among these cases, there are some severe cases where either reconstruction or changing a house is the only solution suggested. I’ll focus on these cases in this article.

Once you realize that your house is the cause of your problems and there is no solution except reconstruction or changing the house – DONT PANIC. This is just another creature with imbalance in energy living with you. You need to take few steps to bring that in balance and eventually balance your life too:

  1. Identify spaces that you feel are the cause of your problems. There might be some dark, untidy, heavy spaces in which you don’t like to spend time. Clear the clutter. Beautiful and cleanliness are attributes of positive energy. Make your house as beautiful and tidy as you yourself are.
  2. Identify if there is deficiency of a particular colour and also if a colour is too much used. Look out for all rainbow colours – Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. Every direction has a corresponding colour. Match different directions of your house with its corresponding colours. Violet in west, Indigo in south-east, blue in south-east and west, green in north, yellow in south and north-east, orange in east, south and southwest, red in south and east. Applying colours in appropriate directions will enhance the vastu energy and bring balance.
  3. Give some positive energy to your house. Sun and air are natural form of energies. Let your house be naturally lit and ventilated by opening doors and windows and using light and bright curtains in dark room. Love your house by keeping it clean, spending quality time within.
  4. Performing Yagya is another way to keep your house pure and free from any unwanted energies. Keep performing Yagya in weekends or holidays with your family participation. Lighting lamps or candles is another way for the same.
  5. Balance your and family members energies by balancing your chakras. There are seven major chakras in our body. Any imbalance in any of the chakras is the cause of all physical and emotional problems. Chakras can be balanced by specific meditation, pranayam, diet, reiki, colour therapy, mantras and aromatherapy.

To get best results, follow these for at least twenty-one days and you will find significant improvement in your current situation. Maintaining a good relation with your house and increasing its energy can reduce the effect of any Vastu dosh.

Is your building in equilibrium?

Nature is in equilibrium, there are energy fields operating freely in nature and are in equilibrium too. When a building is placed on earth, the flow of energy field changes its course and sometimes this may give rise to Vastu dosh. The disturbed energy field also affects energy fields of the occupants and results in health, financial or personal problems.

Once we realize the importance of equilibrium, we can take some useful steps to establish it in our abode. Here is a small exercise you can perform at your place on coming weekend with your family for your prosperity.

LIGHT TREATMENT

Open all your doors and curtains in your house in the morning and see if any of the area is in dark (area where you can not read with a perfect eyesight may be considered as dark). If your house is well lit by natural light that means you are not obstructing flow of sun-rays through your building. Close your curtains and see which all areas become dark now (which were previously lit enough by natural light). The darker areas should be treated by replacing dark colored and thicker curtains by lighter ones.

AIR TREATMENT

Open all door and windows, switch off the fans and try to feel the natural inflow of air through your rooms (if you feel difficult to sense the airflow, you may get a clue from the swing of your hanging curtains). Do this for analyzing the ventilation for each room. Now from this exercise, try to figure out the main sources of ventilation (certain doors and windows) through which maximum air comes in and goes out of your house and try to keep them open especially in morning hours.

CLUTTER TREATMENT

After treating light and ventilation in your house, now it’s turn for treating clutter. Clutter absorbs and obstructs energy. Clutter is like driving on a bad road. A house with less, light and useful stuffs are more efficient and prosperous than a house made museum (over-decorated, broken, unutilized and asynchronous stuffs).  Check each room and see the ratio of occupied vs. free space on the floor (only look for the floor area of the room not the volume). Try to maintain a ratio of 4:6 (4 is for occupied and 6 is for free space) in all rooms. The lesser the obstructed/occupied area better the flow.

Any change/practice comes into effect or reflects after a minimum of three weeks time. Incorporate light, ventilation and clutter therapies and make a note of changes you feel after three weeks.

I’m sure it would help.

Happy Living!!!

Vastu – To believe or not?

Posted by: arcneha on: February 15, 2010

There are many instances I can cite where people have refused to believe in Vastu as a science. This is merely because of the negative impression one gets due to the way Vastu is promoted these days. Vastu has become a new tool for some claimed astrologers, who try to sell this service by scaring about ill-effects of not following Vastu.

Vastu is a science of architecture and energy. We know and believe that every individual is a packet of energy. Sometimes this energy gets depleted and one fall ill or feel low. When we are full of energy we feel elated. People talk about positive and negative energy. I believe there is only one thing – Energy. Either there is surplus energy or deficiency which we call as positive or negative.

Similarly, our surroundings also consist of energy. There are places where we feel good like garden full of flowers and places where we avoid going like graveyard. In our own house also, there are some favorite spots, some favorite corner we like to spend our time. Also, there are some areas where we seldom sit. Vastu science balances these energies. A house with a good feeling attached is automatically a Vastu correct house.

Architecture is the base knowledge for Vastu Science. A Vastu consultant should have the skill of designing and modifying spaces. One has to know about buildings well before suggesting any changes.

Unfortunately, Vastu is not taught as a subject in architecture colleges and most of the architects are devoid from this great science. That’s why today anybody is claiming to be a Vastu consultant. Vastu science is very different from astrology. One need to be careful while choosing a Vastu consultant. It is as crucial as choosing the right doctor.

Recession and Vastu

Recession has been everybody’s focus in 2008 as well as this year. Many industries, specially the Manufacturing industries and IT/BPO businesses, have either deferred promotions of employees or laid them off. Many employees are either pressurized at work, searching for job or sitting at home.

Every situation is foreplay of thoughts and energy. There is always a solution to subtle any situation by adding or removing some energy from it. Vastu energy is one of the solutions. You can add positive Vastu energy to your home or workplace for your betterment.

Few simple tips are:

- Keep your cash and valuables facing north and in North zone of your house. North is the direction of Kuber (wealth) and keeping your cash/valuables in North will increase your inflow and decrease expenses.

- Sleep with your head in South or East. Sleep is the tonic for revitalizing our body. A good sleep is very helpful in stressful situations. With head towards S or E, we are in sync with the earth magnetic field and get charged up easily. Always try to keep your mental baggage outside your bedroom. Use clean and soothing bed sheets for good sleep.

- Remove negative energy from your house or workplace by making it clutter free and clean. Throw or sell away unnecessary things/ furniture and other junks.

- Root chakra gets affected during instability of career. Red is the color for root chakra. Wear more reds; keep red painting or decorative elements in your house and work place, for treatment of root chakra.

- Keep and nourish money plant in your house or workplace. A growing money plant symbolizes growth and prosperity.

- Activate North-West region of your house or workplace. North-West is the region for movement, and is ruled by wind. At home, you can setup an office in this region. Activating North- West region can help stagnant situations fade away.

Recession is not anything unusual and is not something happening to only one person. So relax. Try to live a simpler life, save money, and if possible find few alternative means for earning.

Happy Living…:)

Chakras and Color Therapy

Posted by: arcneha on: February 19, 2009

Light is life-giving. We surely cannot survive without light. Have you ever realized that we feel energized, peaceful and happy when we sit in winter sun. Our blood-flow improves, and we get several vitamins and minerals that are available in sunlight. The morning sun is a source of positive energy. It is advisable to go for a walk in the morning. Morning walk help remove toxins from our body and absorb positive energy from sun. Morning walk is an energy drink and keeps us active the whole day.

Color is a property of light. Sunlight can be dissipated to seven colors that treat the seven chakras present in our body. VIBGYOR flows through our body with violet corresponding with Sahasrara chakra (Crown chakra), located at top of the head and red corresponding with Mooladhar chakra (Root chakra), located at last bone in spinal cord.

Think about this – Why do we have favorite colors? And our favorite color keeps on changing. If you notice, the color tone of your wardrobe keep on changing, sometime more of red, sometime blue and sometime orange.

Think about this – why do some colors just “go” with each other (for example, Blue and White often look nice together. But Pink and Orange is not the usual one) What is it that makes them go together? It’s our brain’s reaction to them – thus, colors can actually emit feelings. And if it can emit an emotion, it can do much more.

White is a combination of all colors. That’s why when we wear white, we feel light and energetic, as all our chakras get energy. Most of the saints wear only white. Most of people like wearing light shades as light shades have more white in it.

Lack of a particular color in the human system can cause various diseases. Color therapy is a technique of restoring imbalance by means of colors

Color therapy can be used as an alternative therapy. Every disease is caused by emotional imbalance. All emotions are properties of seven chakras and each chakra has a specific color. The color treats its respective chakra and thus, treats the root cause of any disease.

There are few tips one can follow, that keep treating one’s chakras and is a preventive method to avoid diseases:

- Spend some time in the sun, preferable morning sun. Practice morning walk. It is the most effective way of purification of one’s body.

- Practice color breathing exercise as mentioned. Make a set of seven bottles (plastic or glass) of seven rainbow colors. Put these colored bottles out in the sun for a couple of hours and then inhale the air within the bottle.

- Wear these colors on the mentioned day for 2-3 month and notice the positive changes in yourself. Sunday- Red, Monday – Yellow, Tuesday – Pink, Wednesday – Green, Thursday – Orange, Friday – Blue and Saturday – purple

There is a lot that one need to know about oneself, our chakras and how we can treat our self. We will discuss about chakras in details in the next post.

Till then take care and Happy Living

How is Vastu related?

Posted by: arcneha on: January 7, 2009

For more details visit www.knowyourvastu.com

Every building is a living organism. Usually, we get instinct about a place as we get for a person. We often like going to some places and avoid some other. We can feel the energy of spaces like we can do for people. This energy that we feel is Vastu energy.
Vastu can be compared to Yoga. Both are our ancient way for healing which are recently revived:
- Yoga treats body and Vastu treats space
- Yoga balances the five elements in the body through exercises and eliminates stress. Vastu balances the five elements outside our body to eliminate stress around us.

It is advised to consult a Yoga teacher before following any yoga/Pranayam exercise. Similarly, it is advised to consult a Vastu consultant before building a new house, choosing a plot or apartment or making changes to your house

Home is a place for shelter, comfort and safety. It’s an abode where one can be oneself. With time, we have built an enormous range of homes ranging from ancient cave, Eskimos, palaces, independent house to modern multistoried apartments. India has a rich heritage in architecture and history. In ancient India, homes, palaces and temples  were built keeping in account the universal energy.

Our universe is full of energy that is beneficiary to us. We should be aware of this energy and must learn to harness this energy for our well being.

Five elements and their directions

The earth or soil on which we build our home is alive, and has a life force that we may call as ‘Vastu energy’. All living being on this earth share this energy, whether they are aware or not.

Vastu is the art of living, once we know, believe and connect well with this energy. We can then harness this energy and create a harmonious space around us.

Before having more in-depth knowledge about vastu and how you may incorporate vastu in your home, there are three basic rules that need to be followed:
- All spaces, products and furnitures in your home should be useful.
